Our roof

In no particular order are the pictures of our new roof. Though it would be more accurate to say half new as they removed all the old tiles, which were not fixed, piled them up, put insulation on (oh, it'll be toasty in the winter and cool in the summer), put brand new "under-tiles" beneath and the the old ones back on top. The under-tiles have little hooks which sit on the lateral wooden batons. Before, the roof stayed down purely by it's own weight and the forces of gravity. And in high winds could move and then, as we can attest to - leak. We wanted the roof to look as it did before - old. I think they thought we were mad. You want it not to be straight? You want all the blackened old tiles on the side you can see? Yes, we do. And after a couple of undoes I think it looks perfect. In fact just like before.

Comments:
Ours needs to be completely replaced too, the whole thng has slipped downwards since we had it rejigged after the big storm in 1998. Since our house is the highest in the street though, and since nobody can actually see it (except for birds and passing planes) we're going to have the lovely tuiles romaines replaced with ugly tuiles mécaniques.

Nobody can see you EXCEPT Google Earth. A wanted us to have a "pixelated" version of K on ours. I'm not sure if the roofers would have been up to it though. Anyway on the side of the roof we can't see are all the rubbish tiles. It really doesn't matter if no-one can see it does it. And mecaniques really work.
